Swiss International Air Lines AG, which is more commonly known as SWISS, is the flag carrier airline of Switzerland. It has scheduled services to various destinations in Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. Zurich Airport is its sole hub while Geneva Airport serves as a focus city. The airline was formed in 2002 following the bankruptcy of Swissair, which was then Switzerland's flag carrier. The new airline was built around Swissair's regional subsidiary known as Crossair. Swiss retained Crossair's IATA code LX (Swissair's code was SR). Likewise, it also assumed Swissair's old ICAO code of SWR (Crossair's was CRX) to maintain international traffic rights. It is a member of Star Alliance and a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. Its headquarters are located at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg near Basel, Switzerland with an office at Zurich Airport in Kloten, Switzerland. Additionally, the company's registered office is in Basel.
